Press Release: Region requests reduced outdoor water use in Markham
York Region water reservoir levels have been reduced during the recent hot, dry weather.
Markham residents are asked not to run municipal water from a hose, pipe, sprinkler or permanent irrigation system to:
- Water lawns or gardens
- Wash cars, sidewalks or driveways
- Fill or top up swimming pools
YRP Locate Missing Markham Couple
York Regional Police have located a young Markham couple that disappeared five days ago.
On June 20, around 7:45 a.m., Sueming Chun, 15, was last seen by her parents at her Bedale Crescent area home, in the Birchmount Road and Steeles Avenue area.
At 7:20 a.m. the same day, David Wu, 14, was last seen by his dad when he was dropped off at Brebeuf Catholic High School in the Bayview Avenue and Steeles area.
The two were found safe at about 9 p.m. last night.

Formerly of the Swiss Elite league, Gamache was named Canadian Major Junior Player of the year in 2001.

Public Meeting For New Community Centre & Library
The public is invited to help plan a new community centre and library in Markham.
The meeting will take place tonight at 7pm in the Council Chamber at the Markham Civic Centre (101 Town Centre Blvd).

Faulty Wiring Blamed For T-Hill Fire
Investigators believe a fatal Thornhill rooming house fire last Wednesday was sparked by faulty electrical wiring.
Flames broke out in the basement of 98 Steeles Avenue East, according to fire officials probing the blaze.
Markham Fire was called to the scene around 4 a.m..
Roberto "Ali" Maldini, 35, the landlord and a resident of the building, was found dead inside.

McGowan pitched a complete game, one-hit shutout, striking out seven batters.
Frank Thomas helped out with the offense, hitting his 499th career homerun.
With the win, the Jays have reached the 500 mark for the first time since May 1.
