YRP Charges Dozens During RIDE Blitz

York Regional Police stopped over 1700 vehicles during its St. Patrick's Day RIDE blitz, laying two 12-hour suspensions and one charge of driving with an illegal blood-alcohol content.
Spot checks were set up across the region beginning Friday and ending Sunday.
When compared to a year ago, officers stopped 386 more vehicles and conducted 18 more roadside tests.

Markham Man Charged In Credit Card Scam

Durham Regional Police have arrested a Markham man in connection with a credit card skimming conspiracy.
According to Durham Police, Gas station attendants were offered cash in exchange for installing a credit and debit card reader at their counters.
Fraud investigators arrested three men before skimming equipment was installed at a gas station in Pickering.
A 29-year-old Markham man was charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and breach of recognizance.
Two men from Toronto were also charged.

Thornhill Native Leads Canada To Gold

Goaltender Paul Rosen played an integral role, in helping the Canadian men's sledge hockey team win the gold medal in the inaugural World Sledge Hockey Challenge in Kelowna, B.C.
In Saturday's final against Norway, the veteran netminder stopped every shot directed his way (nine in total), in Canada's 1-0 overtime victory.
The native of Thornhill also picked up an assist on Canada's lone goal.

After winning four straight, the Raptors have now dropped two in a row, after losing on Sunday to the New York Knicks, 92-74.
The Knicks took control in the third quarter as New York went on a 27-5 run.
Chris Bosh and New York's Stephon Marbury led all scorers with 21 points each.
The Raptors face Orlando on Wednesday.

Down four runs, the Blue Jays tried to come back, but it wasn't enough as the Houston Astros beat Toronto, 4-3.
AJ Burnett pitched 4.1 innings giving up four earned runs and striking out two batters.
The Jays host the New York Yankees this afternoon in Dunedin.
