Study Finds Online Voting Drove Turnout In Markham

Despite overwhelming support for online voting at the polls to engage apathetic voters, youth and seniors, Markham is one of just a handful of Canadian Governments to provide online voting.
Tomorrow at the Civic Centre, Mayor Frank Scarpitti will join interactive and e-voting expert Adam Froman to release a report on internet voting in the past municipal election.
The report will outline voter habits, issues and lessons learned.

Two RH Women Found Dead

York Regional Police are hoping a pair of autopsies will help shed some light on the deaths of two women found inside and outside a Richmond Hill condo last night.
Police were called to the building on Oneida Cres., near Yonge St. and Highway 7, after a woman plunged from a 14th-floor balcony.
Officers then found the body of another woman, reportedly inside the apartment where the first woman had fallen from.
Officers have not yet determined the causes of death, but said the woman found inside the apartment had “no obvious signs of trauma,” allowing investigators to rule out any foul play.
The two autopsies are both scheduled for today.
