Pedestrian Struck And Killed In Oak Ridges

A Kitchener man is dead after being run down in Oak Ridges last night.
At about 10:30 p.m., Sam Pham, 70, was walking along the North Lake Road sidewalk when a westbound vehicle jumped the curb and hit him.
The driver fled the scene.
Investigators are urging the driver involved in the collision to turn themselves into police as soon as possible.

YRP Search For Woodbine Robbery Suspect

York Regional Police is asking for the public's help in identifying and apprehending a male suspect wanted for robbery.
On July 16, an unknown male entered the Budget Rent a Car located at 7604 Woodbine Avenue demanding cash and claiming to have a weapon.
The victim handed over a quantity of cash and was then ordered to get on the floor and stay there before calling police.
Witnesses observed the suspect getting into a silver vehicle.
There were no injuries to the victim.The suspect is described as a black male, 20 to 29 years old, 6’, 170 lbs with a thin build and was clean shaven.
He was wearing a grey baggy sweat suit, black baseball hat, black running shoes, black gloves, and sunglasses.

Two Markham Youths Charged With Robbery

A pair of youths are facing charges after two robberies in Markham.
On June 20 at about 3 p.m., a group of people were walking in the McCowan Road and Highglen Avenue area, when they were approached by two male teenagers.
One, holding a knife, demanded a woman's cellphone and then a man's wallet.
Later that day, another man filed a report telling police he had been robbed of a booklet of bus tickets while walking home near 14th and Coppard avenues.
Two youths — one 16 years old, the other 17 years old — are charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of disguise with intent.
Their names cannot be published under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Both appeared in a Newmarket court yesterday and are scheduled to return in August.

The Blue Jays suffered a heart-breaking defeat to the New York Yankees last night in extra innings 3-2.
Toronto had a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the ninth, when reliever Jeremy Accardo balked home the tying run.
Then in the bottom of the tenth, Casey Jannsen surrendered the game-winning RBI single to New York's Robinson Canoe.
Game three of the four-game series will take place tonight in the big apple.
Sean Marcum (5-3) will face New York's Roger Clemens (2-4).
First pitch - 7:05pm

The Blue Jays have also put in a bid to host either the 2010 or 2012 All-star game.
If successful, it would mark the second time the Mid-Summer classic has been played in Toronto.
The previous time was in 1991.
The commissioner's office will make a decision in August.

The semi-finals for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup will begin tonight.
Austria will take on the Czech Republic in Edmonton.
Game time - 7:15pm ET.
The other semi-final match will be held tomorrow in Toronto.

Canadian athletes picked up seven medals yesterday at the Pan-American Games in Brazil.
