Bank Robbery In Stouffville

The Pace Credit Union in Stouffville was robbed yesterday.
There were no customers inside the branch at the time and no employees were hurt.
The suspect is described as male, with light brown skin, between 28 and 30 years old, six-feet, two-inches tall with a medium build, short black hair, dark eyes and was unshaven.
He was wearing a Nike hoodie, black pants, tan shoes and black gloves.

Bomb Scare In Richmond Hill

A Richmond Hill plaza was evacuated yesterday after a passerby spotted a box containing a grenade, in the parking lot behind the strip mall.
York Regional police later determined the device was not in danger of exploding, even though it may have contained some of its original explosive material, because it no longer had a detonating device.
It was later discovered that the grenade had been turned into a cigarette lighter.
Part of Elgin Mills Road was closed while bomb experts worked to dismantle the grenade.

Man Arrested In Random Attack

A 27-year-old Toronto man is facing charges in connection with a violent and random attack on three women, at a Richmond Hill apartment building.
One woman suffered a black eye and an abrasion to her face while the other two needed stitches to close wounds on their heads.
They were all hospitalized.
Jermaine St. Louis, of Toronto, was charged with three counts of assault causing bodily harm after being arrested by York Regional police inside the building yesterday.

Heritage Minister In Markham For Announcement

Bev Oda, the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Status of Women, will be making an important announcement in Markham today, concerning diverse arts organizations.
The announcement will take place at the Markham Theatre for the Performing Arts, this afternoon at 1:30.

Sports Report

TJ Ford scored 18 points and added 18 assists, as the Raptors defeated the New York Knicks, 104-93.
The match was a back and forth battle, until the third quarter when Toronto outscored the Knicks 35-18.
The Raps also lost Jose Calderon in the 2nd quarter, after the point guard sprained his ankle.
There is no word yet, on his status.

The Blue Jays played a couple of spring training matches against the Cleavland Indians.
One game ended in a scoreless tie as Toronto pitchers, Tomo Okha and Victor Zambrano, gave strong performances.
In the other game, Cleavland hit four home runs, routing the Jays, 8-1.
Toronto faces the Philadelphia Phillies tonight, in Clearwater, Florida.

The Marlies jumped out to a 3-1 lead. However, it wasn't enough as the Binghamton Senators came back to beat Toronto, 7-4.
Alex Foster led the Marlies, scoring his 5th and 6th goal of the season.
Toronto will host the Houston Aeros on Saturday night at the Ricoh Coliseum.
