Three Charged With Fraud

Two men and a woman from Toronto have been slapped with 47 fraud charges in connection with a counterfeit debit card scam in Markham.
On Sunday night, two off-duty York Regional Police officers were in a plaza at 8601 Warden Ave. when they spotted the three suspects at the Scotia Bank ATM.
The woman seemed to be in disguise, sporting a blond wig and baseball cap.
More than $18,000 was seized by police.
Police believe 40 fraudulent transactions were made in 35 minutes.
All three are expected appear in a Newmarket court Thursday.

Three Women Attacked in Richmond Hill

York Regional Police are on the hunt for a Toronto man after three women were randomly attacked at a Richmond Hill apartment building on Monday night.
Jermaine St. Louis of Toronto, is wanted for three counts of assault causing bodily harm in connection with the attacks.
According to reports, Mr. St. Louis lived at the apartment at one time and still has connections to friends who live in the building.
Police are cautioning residents not to approach him.

Woman Sentenced For Abandoning Daughter

A 22-year-old Richmond Hill woman is going to jail after abandoning her infant daughter for two days with only juice and cookies in her crib.
The woman was found guilty of child abandonment, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, failing to provide the necessities of life, public mischief and breaching her probation in connection with the abandonment in November 2005.
She was sentenced to two years in a provincial jail, less 14 days for time served, followed by three years probation.
The child remains a ward of the Children's Aid Society.

The Maple Leafs picked up a big win over Tampa Bay last night, beating the Lighting, 3-2. Captain Mats Sundin led the Leafs, picking up one goal and one assist.
With the win, Toronto is one point away from 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Leafs face Washington on Friday.

The Raptors host the New York Knicks tonight. The Raps are 5.5 games in front of their Atlantic Division opponents and are winners of 3 straight. Tip off is at 7pm at the ACC.

AJ Burnett allowed one hit over four innings as the Blue Jays shutout the Boston Red Sox, 1-0. Burnett, who was injured during the first half of the 2006 season, threw 61 pitches, striking out five and giving up two walks. The Jays take on the Cleavland Indians this afternoon in Florida.
