Woman Sentenced For Abandoning Daughter

A 22-year-old Richmond Hill woman is going to jail after abandoning her infant daughter for two days with only juice and cookies in her crib.
The woman was found guilty of child abandonment, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, failing to provide the necessities of life, public mischief and breaching her probation in connection with the abandonment in November 2005.
She was sentenced to two years in a provincial jail, less 14 days for time served, followed by three years probation.
The child remains a ward of the Children's Aid Society.
