Press Release: Region requests reduced outdoor water use in Markham

York Region water reservoir levels have been reduced during the recent hot, dry weather.

Markham residents are asked not to run municipal water from a hose, pipe, sprinkler or permanent irrigation system to:

  • Water lawns or gardens
  • Wash cars, sidewalks or driveways
  • Fill or top up swimming pools

YRP Locate Missing Markham Couple

York Regional Police have located a young Markham couple that disappeared five days ago.
On June 20, around 7:45 a.m., Sueming Chun, 15, was last seen by her parents at her Bedale Crescent area home, in the Birchmount Road and Steeles Avenue area.
At 7:20 a.m. the same day, David Wu, 14, was last seen by his dad when he was dropped off at Brebeuf Catholic High School in the Bayview Avenue and Steeles area.
The two were found safe at about 9 p.m. last night.

Sports Report

The Blue Jays are above the 500 mark after last night's 8-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
Matt Stairs, Vernon Wells and Alex Rios went deep for the Jays, who have won four in a row.
Game two of the series is tonight at 8:10pm.
Sean Marcum (4-2) will face Minnesota's Scott Baker (2-2)

The Maple Leafs have signed RW Simon Gamache.
Formerly of the Swiss Elite league, Gamache was named Canadian Major Junior Player of the year in 2001.
The Leafs also resigned defensemen Jay Harrison.

In Junior B Lacrosse action, the Markham Ironheads wrap up their regular season tonight when they host the Clarington Green Gaels.
Game time is 8pm at the Markham Village arena.
