Markham, ON ~ January 9, 2008 ~ Known as the World's Largest House League Hockey Competition, the Tony Roman Memorial Hockey Tournament is celebrating its 35th anniversary. This year's competition features over 2,00 young hockey players on 133 local teams participating in 223 games from Saturday, January 12 until Sunday, January20.

Theif Makes Off With Deposit Bag

A Markham Shoppers Drug Mart employee was robbed yesterday while trying to make a bank deposit.The incident took place around noon near the TD Bank at McCowan Road and Bur Oak Avenue.York Regional Police say the employee was brining the store's deposit bag to the bank when it was ripped out of her hands.The robber then fled into a surrounding neighborhood.The employee was not hurt.Police continue to investigate.Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-222-TIPS or leave a tip at www.1800222tips.com.
