Press Release: Learn how to be a Safe Streets driver.

Safe Driving Course July 31

The Town of Markham and Young Drivers of Canada are offering a free safe driving course for all Markham residents on Tuesday July 31, 2007 starting at 7:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Registration starts at 6:45.p.m.
This course supports the Markham Safe Streets program, which focuses on improving road safety by positively changing driving behaviour. This is an initiative of Markham Council, overseen by the Traffic Safety Committee (TSC).
Sign up for the two-hour course to be held at the Thornhill Public Library - Auditorium, 7755 Bayview Avenue. Refreshments will be provided and each participant will receive a small token of appreciation.

Sports Report

The Blue Jays defeated the Oakland Athletics yesterday 10-3.
Matt Stairs drove in four runs with a two-run double in the first inning, and a two-run home run in the third.
The Jays have the day off before beginning a weekend series against the Cleveland Indians on Friday.

Toronto FC picked up their first road win in club history last night, after beating Real Salt Lake 2-1.
Collin Samuel scored the game winning goal on a penalty kick in the 79th minute.
TFC will now head to Chicago, for a match against the Fire on Saturday.

At the FIFA Under 20 World Cup, yesterday's winners were Uruguay, Spain, Japan and Nigeria.
Tonight, Canada takes on Austria in Edmonton.
