Robbery At Markham Hotel

York Regional Police are searching for a "rock-wielding robber" after a Markham hotel was held up yesterday morning.
At about 1:45 a.m., a man walked into the Monte Carlo Inn at 8900 Woodbine Ave. and approached a clerk at the front desk.
The man demanded cash and threatened to bash the clerk with what police believe was a rock.
The clerk handed over money and the man bolted through the inn's front doors.
The clerk was not injured.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male with a light complexion, 25 or 26 years old and five-feet, eight-inches tall with a skinny build.
He has short, brown hair, a full scruffy brown beard and was wearing a blue jean jacket and blue jeans.

The Blue Jays shut out the Tampa Bay Devil Rays last night 2-0.
In front of a home town crowd, Florida native Jesse Litsch pitched 6 2-3 shutout innings, giving up seven hits and picking up two strikeouts.
The final game of the three-game series will take place this afternoon.
Josh Towers (5-7) will face Tampa's Jason Hammel (1-1).

Major League Baseball's trade deadline passed yesterday.
Among the deals, the Texas Rangers sent Canadian reliever Eric Gange to the Boston Red Sox, in exchange for pitcher Kason Gabbard and two minor leaguers.
The Blue Jays were not involved in any deals.

The Maple Leafs beat the Oshawa Dodgers 3-2, in game four of their best-of-seven series.
Toronto leads the series 3-1.
Game five is tonight at Christie Pits.

The Markham Pioneers beat the Thornhill Reds 11-10.
