The Town of Markham has partnered with the Maytree Foundation and the Region of York's Inclusivity Action Planning group to pilot a community outreach program to encourage increased diversity in Markham's volunteer sector.
Volunteer information sessions will be held at the Markham Civic Centre on June 18 and July 4, from 2-6pm.
During these sessions, community members will learn about the benefits of volunteering.
Those interested in volunteering will be able to observe various committees and board in action, and receive training on governance issues such as the roles and responsibilities of board members.
