A York Regional Police officer has pleaded guilty to assault in connection with a traffic stop in Vaughan last November.
A 40-year-old Vaughan resident was stopped by police on Nov. 11.
He was arrested for refusing to provide a roadside breath sample and placed in the back of a police cruiser.
An officer who arrived in a different cruiser approached the man and assaulted him.
The man suffered facial injuries as a result.
Const. Ryan Venables, who was arrested in December, was given a suspended sentence with 18 months of probation.
