Honda Moves Canadian HQ To Markham

A number of setbacks have forced Honda to abandoned plans for its new Canadian headquarters in Richmond Hill, taking its business across town.
The auto giant announced it will build a sprawling campus-style head office at Hwy. 404 and Elgin Mills Road in Markham by 2009.
The company had purchased 77 acres of farmland near the southwest corner of Hwy. 404 and Major Mackenzie Drive in Richmond Hill in 2005, expecting the new headquarters to open next year.
However, the process became bogged down over a road allowance and the relationship between Honda and the Town of Richmond Hill began to strain by late 2006.
