A woman is in hospital after being struck by a vehicle on McCowan Road in Markham yesterday.
Just before 5 p.m., the woman — identified by a friend as Wendy Cowie — was crossing at the intersection of McCowan and Heritage Road, after getting off a bus when she was struck.
A witness said a black GMC Denali SUV was involved in the collision.
According to the witness, Cowie was in the pedestrian crosswalk.
McCowan was blocked by emergency crews as Cowie was loaded onto a stretcher but the road reopened shortly after.
