Two people have been arrested after a York Regional Police officer was killed this morning on a residential street in Unionville.
The officer's name has not been released as his family is still being notified.
Police say the officer died after he was struck and dragged by a car at around 5:46 a.m. as he investigated a theft in the area.
Media reports claim the officer was deliberately run down.
York Regional Police are investigating the death as a homicide and will hold a news conference this afternoon.
